test servers are there for a reason…

…to have fun! For the last week or so, there’s been a nice little stat stacking bug on the World of Warcraft test servers. For those that don’t know, Blizzard opens up test servers for any new update patch that comes out. They give the option of copying your character to these servers to test for bugs.
And, well, look what happened…

Why do people hate video games?

Over the years I’ve heard many things about video games promoting violent acts, making kids lazy, people becoming addicted, etc. and many news stories and reporters complaining about them. The thing I don’t understand is why people aren’t considered “addicted” when all they do is play an instrument, run track, weight lift, or do any other sport on a daily basis for a few hours. Games are no different, they’re here for FUN and for many people it’s a favorite hobby.

Parents are a large source of complaints. Some ask their children, “Why don’t you go outside and play?” “Why don’t you play basketball or football like the other kids?” These are the people that don’t know what their kids like and think they’re abnormal. You see many people that love playing sports, but does that mean that everyone likes them? The truth is that many children and teens don’t have fun with sports, or any activity that parents consider “normal.” (I’m using sports as the main example because it’s what many adults think kids/teens should be doing)

As for the violence, it’s fake. Any sane person knows that killing people in video games is completely different than killing real people. The reason many have fun with this genre of games is because you’re doing something you can’t do in real life, no matter how much you would like to. Many shootings or other violent acts that have been linked to video games don’t know the true cause. The true cause to the acts are mental or social problems and games are only a minor influence to the problem. These people often have no friends, are social outcasts, and/or may have a mental instability that remain unknown.

Rock Band is awesome

Anyone who plays video games probably has heard of this game. Rock Band is a 1-4 player music game in which you can play the part of Guitar, Bass, Drums, or Vocals(that means singer). Everyone can create and customize a character. The modes include Solo Career, Band World Tour, and Quickplay. Regardless of skill level, many people find this game very fun to play.

-Characters are completely customizable from clothes to hair and even tattoos or face paint. You can create characters that look almost exactly like you or your friends! With the selection of hair, colors, and tattoos, you can make some pretty interesting people. And besides the character itself, you can choose color and paint for your instrument. However, in order to get new clothes and/or instruments, you need to play songs to earn money and buy them.

-Solo Career is just as it sounds, plug in your instrument of choice, choose your character, and play through the song list. The difficulty and tier of the song depends on how much money you earn.

-Band World Tour is similar to Career with a few changes. Just as it sounds, you can name your band and hook up 2-4 players in this mode and play through various famous cities. In order to progress through this mode, you earn fans in addition to money. Quite a few of the sets your band will need to play are “random songs”. I can’t tell you how sick I am of “In Bloom” by Nirvana and “Say It Ain’t So” by Weezer. They seriously need to make it more random when your band is new.

Completed Spellfire Set

As I don’t play my mage often, this set took a while to complete since I didn’t know of any way to earn money easily. Upon the discovery of something ridiculously easy to do for money (after having two pieces already), I put down about 600g to get the mats needed to level tailoring and make the robes with blue gems.
